What Energy Are You Letting Into Your Life—and Spreading?

Have you ever stopped in the middle of your day and asked yourself, “What feeling am I letting into my life right now… and what presence am I putting out into the world?”

If you’re like most people, the answer is probably: “Um… I don’t know. I’m just trying to get through the day without losing it.”

And honestly? Same. You’re in good company.

As an energy healer and holistic practitioner, I will be the first to admit that when I’m tired, frustrated, overwhelmed, or just flat-out done with life, the last thing I want to do is sit with my feelings. No Zen moment here. I just want to throw a blanket over my emotions and keep moving.

But here’s the truth: ignoring your emotions doesn’t make them go away. It makes them leak out.

The Silent Energy We Don’t Realize We’re Spreading

Emotional weight isn’t just mystical sparkles floating around us—it is the subtle energy and unspoken tone we carry into every room we enter. It shows up in everyday moments:

  • The heavy sigh you didn’t mean to let out

  • The sharp tightness in your voice when answering a simple question

  • The small irritations that slowly build up throughout the afternoon

  • The physical heaviness resting in your chest

  • The deep exhaustion you’re pretending you don’t feel

When we ignore our feelings, this unaddressed tension leaks into our day, our work, and the people we love—even when we have the best intentions. Suddenly, the smallest inconvenience triggers an unexpected reaction because our unacknowledged emotions are running the show behind the scenes.

Awareness Doesn’t Make the Feeling Bigger—It Makes You Stronger

Here’s the healing shift: when you pause for even a few moments to acknowledge your emotional state—even if it’s messy—you move from being consumed by the feeling to simply observing it. And that shift changes everything.

Awareness doesn’t erase the emotion, nor does it require you to fix it instantly. Instead, it changes your relationship with what you are experiencing. It gives you choice, clarity, and breathing room. Suddenly, you can step back and say:

  • “Wow. I’m overwhelmed. No wonder everything feels heavier today.”

  • “I’m exhausted. My body is gently trying to tell me something.”

  • “I’m carrying a lot right now, and it’s okay to acknowledge that.”

Noticing your internal state doesn’t make you weak. It makes you grounded. It prevents unaddressed tension from spilling into interactions where it doesn’t belong, allowing you to respond with intention rather than react out of frustration.

How to Shift Your Internal State in 3 Simple Steps

When you catch yourself absorbing or spreading unwanted tension, you don’t need a 45-minute meditation session to reset. You just need a micro-pause. Try this simple three-step check-in:

  1. Name the Feeling Without Judgment: Simply say to yourself, “I am feeling anxious,” or “I am feeling rushed.” Giving the emotion a name takes away its power to run on autopilot.

  2. Release the Physical Hold: Unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders away from your ears, and soften your stomach. Physical tension is often where we trap emotional stress.

  3. Set an Intentional Tone: Ask yourself what subtle energy you want to bring into your next conversation or task. Do you want to bring patience? Ease? Groundedness? Choose it consciously.

Why This Matters for Your Healing Journey

The energy you allow into your life—and the mood you unconsciously share—shapes your entire reality:

  • The depth and safety of your relationships

  • The clarity of your daily decisions

  • Your overall sense of peace and alignment

  • Your physical health and ability to recover from stress

You cannot change what you refuse to acknowledge. You cannot release what you don’t notice. But you can gently check in and ask yourself:

  • “What am I carrying right now?”

  • “Is this what I want to feed?”

  • “Is this what I want to pass along to others?”

Because awareness is always the first step toward true freedom, healing, and joy.

A Gentle Invitation

Take a single conscious breath today and notice what you’re holding. No judgment. No pressure. No forcing yourself into toxic positivity. Just honest awareness.

And ask yourself one simple question: What energy am I choosing today?
