Do you feel like you’ve lost yourself?
Do you feel like you’ve lost yourself? Are you struggling to get back to feeling like yourself? Maybe you’re wondering why it seems so hard to just feel like YOU.
Take a deep breath. You are simply growing. Although there is nothing simple about it.
Imagine you are standing on a twisting path with a curve behind you and one ahead of you. As you look back, you see a dim image of yourself just standing there and when you draw your attention forward you can just make out a faint outline of a person.
This is the path of growth and you are now standing between who you used to be and who you are soon to be. Yes, this moment is accompanied by fear, but it is impossible to grow and stay the same. Which means you must lose yourself by stepping away from the “you” you’ve known while adjusting to the you, you are becoming.
Imagine once again, you are on that twisting path moving forward, away from the dim image of yourself. You are moving at what feels like a very slow pace, all the while searching for YOU. When suddenly you look up, and realize you have not only collided with the person at the end of the path, but you have merged with them completely. As you continue to move forward you breathe a sigh of relief, feeling more like yourself then you ever have.
Growth is not easy, but it is necessary. We were born to grow, learn and change. If we aren’t growing we quickly find ourselves stagnant. So the next time you feel like you’ve lost yourself, send out a small thanks of gratitude and offer yourself acceptance and understanding as you travel the path of growth. You will find yourself at the end of the path in no time.
It’s normal to fight change, even in ourselves, so what can you do to help during the transition? You can spend time in nature, rest the body, talk to a friend, explore what grounds you and meditation is also a great way to ease yourself through the journey.
